Unframed Print mounted on Wood

I like to experiment and I’ve developed a way to have your handmade print mounted and wall hung, or propped on a shelf or mantlepiece, without having glass between you the viewer, and the artwork.

I’ve discovered this looks best when cropped to the printed frame. The printed 100% rag archival paper is glued to a wooden block the same size as the printed frame, and the edges of the wood block are sanded and painted black. A wire is screwed to the back of the block for hanging.

The print is then coated in a matt archival varnish which is invisible and protects it from dirt and scuffs.
